  5. Remove the timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys, then remove the timing belt itself.
  6. If replacing the water pump, do so at this time and drain the cooling system. Replace the thermostat if necessary.
  7. Install the new timing belt, following precise alignment guidelines for the camshaft, crankshaft, and balancing shaft (if applicable).
  8. Rotate the crankshaft 720 degrees by hand to verify the proper alignment of the timing marks.
